The US defense secretary, Pete Hegseth, has fired a general whose agency’s initial intelligence assessment of damage to Iranian nuclear sites from US strikes angered Donald Trump, according to two people familiar with the decision and a White House official.
Lt Gen Jeffrey Kruse will no longer serve as head of the US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), according to the people, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss it publicly.
The firing is the latest upheaval in the US military and intelligence agencies, and comes a few months after details of the preliminary assessment leaked to the media. It found that Iran’s nuclear program has been set back only a few months by the US strikes, contradicting assertions from Trump and the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.
That general may be garbage, for all I know–the vast majority of them are. But I do know that Hegseth is garbage, and that only a moron would believe the Neocon Trump Administration’s bullshit Operation Iranian Freedom narrative.

President Trump is doubling down on the administration’s claim that U.S. military strikes “completely destroyed” Iran’s three nuclear sites last month, pushing back against a new assessment reportedly showing that only one of the three facilities was wrecked.
“All three nuclear sites in Iran were completely destroyed and/or OBLITERATED. It would take years to bring them back into service and, if Iran wanted to do so, they would be much better off starting anew, in three different locations, prior to those sites being obliterated, should they decide to do so,” Trump said in a Saturday morning post on Truth Social.

New assessment contrasts with U.N. agency view that Iran could resume enriching uranium in a ‘matter of months.’
The Trump Administration has officially backed down from their claim to have “obliterated” Iran’s nuclear program. The new alleged two-year window will soon transform into a two-week window. POTUS has three choices: back down from his unconstitutionally-assumed role as the arbiter of Iranian nuclear aspirations; launch a ground invasion; or go nuclear.
The warning from Iran’s military is an indication of the persisting tensions in the region and the threat of a return to all-out war despite the ceasefire agreed with Israel after its strikes on the military leadership and Iran’s nuclear program, with the United States also attacking nuclear facilities.
Rather than seeking nuclear talks with President Donald Trump’s administration, Iran has sounded a defiant note, saying it would suspend cooperation with inspectors from the U.N. nuclear watchdog, the IAEA.

President Donald Trump issued blistering remarks in response to Iran’s Supreme Leader claiming victory over Israel and, by extension, the U.S. In a loaded public message, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had also threatened to attack more U.S. Military bases, further splintering the Middle Eastern country’s relationship with the U.S.
“Look, you’re a man of great faith. A man who’s highly respected in his country. You have to tell the truth. You got beat to hell,” Trump said as he addressed the Iranian Supreme Leader during a White House press conference on Friday. Trump was asked by a reporter if the U.S. would consider bombing Iran again, if intelligence reports were to conclude that Iran could enrich uranium to a level that concerns him. “Sure, without question, absolutely,” he replied.
President Trump’s frustration grows. Of course Iran won. Of course President Trump lost. When you start a war, fail to achieve your stated goals, and then declare a ceasefire, you lose. The Islamic Republic and its nuclear program survived our idiotic attack: we lost.
But we did successfully drive Iran’s nuclear program completely underground and free of any oversight:

The Republican-led U.S. Senate rejected a Democratic-led bid on Friday to block President Donald Trump from using further military force against Iran, hours after the president said he would consider more bombing.
The Senate vote was 53 to 47 against a war powers resolution that would have required congressional approval for more hostilities against Iran. The vote was along party lines, except Pennsylvania Democrat John Fetterman voted no, with Republicans, and Kentucky Republican Rand Paul voted yes, with Democrats.
I just hope, very sincerely, as a Christian and as an American, that when these idiots try to start the next round of Operation Iranian Freedom, the Islamic Republic will have already acquired nuclear weapons.
“We have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the fuck they’re doing,” Trump told reporters on the White House lawn before departing to meet with NATO allies in the Netherlands.

The U.N. Security Council met on Sunday to discuss U.S. strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites as Russia, China and Pakistan proposed the 15-member body adopt a resolution calling for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in the Middle East.
“The bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities by the United States marks a perilous turn,” U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres told the Security Council on Sunday. “We must act – immediately and decisively – to halt the fighting and return to serious, sustained negotiations on the Iran nuclear programme.”
