As Truce Seems To Hold, India And Pakistan Both Claim Victory

The New York Times:

The fragile truce between India and Pakistan appeared to be largely holding on its first full day after some initial skirmishing, as both countries turned on Sunday to making the case that they had come out on top in the four-day conflict.

President Trump announced on Saturday that the two sides had agreed to a cease-fire with the help of U.S. mediation. That brought a halt to a military confrontation that had involved drones, missiles and intense shelling, and that had escalated, with strikes on military bases in both countries.

Mr. Trump followed up with a congratulatory note on Sunday, praising the two sides for “having the strength, wisdom, and fortitude to fully know and understand that it was time to stop the current aggression that could have lead to to the death and destruction of so many, and so much.”

He added that he would increase trade “substantially” with both countries, and that he would work with them to see if a “solution can be arrived at” to settle their seven-decade dispute over the Kashmir region.

Pakistan, a onetime close ally of the United States that has faded in importance, praised the American role as a mediator. But in India, the Trump administration’s public descriptions of its role in the mediation seemed to touch some sensitive spots politically.

This flare-up of the India-Pakistan War was, of course, precipitated by the shenanigans of the CIA.

The ongoing India-Pakistan conflict is yet another fracas which the Globalists hope to blow up and incorporate into their nuclear World War III. They call this “strategic sequencing.”

It is unclear if President Trump has truly foiled the Globalists’ schemes, or if this is just the beginning of a greater conflict.

Russia, India, China Discussing Possibility Of In-Person Summit In Near Future: Russian Envoy Kudashev

The Economic Times:

Russian Ambassador to India Nikolay Kudashev said on December 17 that Russia, India and China are discussing the possibility of in-person summit meeting between the leaders of three countries. “Russia, India, China are discussing the possibility of a summit. This is to be expected in the near future. The natural preference is that the leaders of the three countries meet in person,” Kudashev said. Asked about the possible dates of the summit, Kudashev said Kremlin has mentioned “in near future, which could be the beginning of next year possibly”.

If the Russians can at least persuade China and India to remain neutral with each other once US/NATO/GCC starts World War III, then we may have already lost.

Pentagon Worries About Chinese Buildup Near India

Foreign Policy:

The U.S. Defense Department is newly concerned about China’s further military buildup near the demarcation line across its Himalayan border with India, a senior defense official told Foreign Policy, after Beijing deployed long-range strategic bombers to the area last month in another apparent warning to New Delhi.

The senior defense official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive policy deliberations, said that the buildup fits the pattern of Chinese regional aggression seen elsewhere in the Indo-Pacific region, such as in the Philippines, where Chinese coast guard vessels moved to block Philippine supply boats in November. But there’s optimism among experts and officials that India will be able to stand its ground against the People’s Liberation Army. New Delhi has put up more diplomatic and military resistance than China’s antagonists in other territorial incursions, such as in the South China Sea, experts said.

“It’s just clear that [China has] become more assertive all across their territorial fault lines,” said Jeff Smith, a research fellow at the Heritage Foundation’s Asian Studies Center. “Arguably India is the one where they’ve met the most resistance. The Indians will not be cowed, coerced, or intimidated.”

Putin’s Coup In India Will Shock The U.S.

Oil Price:

Russia last week announced a major new energy cooperation deal with India that threatens the very core of the U.S.’s fightback strategy against Beijing’s and Moscow’s expansionism in the Middle East and beyond. The main hydrocarbons deal will be for Russia, via oil giant Rosneft, to supply almost 15 million barrels of crude to Indian Oil, by the end of 2022. Given the massive geopolitical ramifications of any sizeable oil deal, it was entirely legitimate for Igor Sechin, Rosneft chief executive officer and close friend of Russian President, Vladimir Putin, to say of the deal that: “The signing of a new oil supply contract confirms the strategic nature of the long-term partnership between Rosneft and Indian Oil.”

We blew it with India.

Russia, India Cement Military Ties Despite U.S. Pressure

The Wall Street Journal:

Indian and Russian officials rejected American pressure to downgrade their close defense ties on Monday as the two countries’ leaders met in New Delhi and agreed to extend military technical cooperation for another decade.

The US treats India as a subordinate. Russia treats India as an equal. If positive relations with Russia can succeed in keeping India on the sideline regarding China, then World War III may not go too well for us.

India Receives Initial Russian S-400s Amid US Opposition

The Defense Post:

India is set to take delivery of its first Russian S-400 anti-aircraft surface-to-air missile systems next month despite strong US opposition, according to a report by The Hindu, citing a senior Russian official.

Thousands of missile system containers are now reportedly being shipped to the Asian nation by air and sea. These packages include long-range acquisition and engagement radars, two missile batteries, and all-terrain transporter-erector vehicles.

According to a military source, the first squadron of the Russian S-400 systems will immediately be assembled and undergo “acceptance trials” upon delivery to India by next month.

India And China Expected To Buy Russia’s New S-500 Missile Defense System

The National Interest:

The S-500 is considered a step up from the S-400 Triumf, but would supplement that platform rather than replace it. It has a range of around six hundred kilometers and is reportedly able to target hypersonic cruise missiles as well as stealth aircraft. Analysts claim the S-500 could even target satellites in low-earth orbit.

It could make sense that China would have interest in such a platform as it continues to assert its position in the South China Sea. Where things get a little complicated is that India could be the first potential buyer for the S-500 “Triumfator-M.” Yet the fact that potential adversaries China and India have both expressed interest doesn’t seem to be a serious reason for concern for Russia at this point.

India’s Missile Test Seen As Warning To China After Breakdown In Border Talks

The Wall Street Journal:

An Indian missile test was seen by security experts as a warning shot to China after military talks between the two countries over a contentious border dispute broke down earlier this month.

India’s Defense Ministry said it successfully launched on Wednesday the Agni-5, the country’s longest-range missile, with the power to hit a target up to 3,100 miles away.
