Peter Green, founder and original frontman of Fleetwood Mac, died “in his sleep this weekend.”
Month: July 2020
Charles Edward Daniels (1936-2020)
Charlie Daniels has died “of a hemorrhagic stroke.” The Bluegrass, Country, and Southern Rock music genres have lost an icon. He played Riverfront Park a decade ago, and put on a great show. Me, two friends, and my dog put our canoes in the Poteau River at Arkoma Park a couple of hours before the show, and floated up downtown right in time for the show to kick off.
Psychedelic Pseconds
Fifteen years ago today, Pink Floyd reunited at Live 8. It was the first time Roger Waters, Nick Mason, Richard Wright, and David Gilmour played together since 1981. Syd Barrett, their original lead singer and guitarist, who left the band in 1968 amid his terrible struggle with mental illness, died in 2006. For this month’s installment of Psychedelic Pseconds, we have a double helping with a 1967 live performance of “Astronomy Domine”…
…and a 2005 performance of “Comfortably Numb.”
