OK Foods and the River Valley Regional Food Bank handed out 160,000 pounds of frozen chicken to families Wednesday. Vehicles linked up at Kay Rodgers Park in Fort Smith. The giveaway started at 7 a.m. All the food had been given out by 12:30 p.m. Each vehicle received a single 40-pound box.

Steve Farmer has died “due to a coronary issue.” He played second guitar to a young Ted Nugent in the Amboy Dukes, and wrote the lyrics of their most popular song:

Psychedelic Pseconds
It is the second of April, 2020. Instead of blogging merely about the Chinese virus, and dying celebrities, I am hereby instituting Psychedelic Pseconds. As an excuse to have at least one post a month that is not sad or tragic, on the second of every month, I will post a kickass Psychedelic Rock song from the late 60’s or early 70’s. In this superior genre of music took place the electrical convergence of all things Americana, including Folk, Blues, Country, Rock, Jazz, and Soul. For today’s helping of Psychedelic Pseconds, we are going all the way back to a live performance in 1969 of their hit “Time Has Come Today” by the Chambers Brothers.
Joe Logan Diffie (1958-2020)
The Pickup Man has died “from complications of coronavirus.” I got a room at the Choctaw last year when he put on a show down there. I had not been to a country music concert since Garth played the USS Enterprise (CVN 65) the night before Thanksgiving of 2001. Although the production value of the two concerts could not be more starkly contrasted–and as cool as it is to watch a concert on the flight deck of a nuclear aircraft carrier–the Joe Diffie show was every bit as enjoyable. There is a lot to be said for those little casino shows, where one can stand mere feet from a living legend, on the same level, as he plays all of his old hits to a modest crowd of fans from way back. He had a lot of fun that night, and everyone else did too.
