The top general in the U.S. military warned Thursday that not supporting Ukraine now would lead to a massive increase in future defense budgets — and global conflict that has been avoided since World War II ended.
“If that rules-based order, which is in its 80th year, if that goes out the window, then be very careful,” Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gen. Mark Milley testified to Congress on Thursday. “We’ll be doubling our defense budgets at that point because that will introduce not an era of great power competition. That’ll begin an era of great power conflict. And that’ll be extraordinarily dangerous for the whole world.”
Speaking of Ivy League-educated garbage, General Milley is not nearly this stupid. He knows just as well as everybody else does that if we abandon our global war agenda and cease our attempts to force the entire world into subservience, then we would be free to drastically reduce our “defense” budget.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday backtracked on a comment made earlier this month calling Russia’s war in Ukraine a “territorial dispute,” hardening his stance against Russian President Vladimir Putin and the conflict.
DeSantis previously aligned himself with former President Donald Trump — and in conflict with other 2024 presidential hopefuls — on the role America’s should play in Ukraine’s efforts to beat back Russia’s assault on the nation.
As I suspected, DeSantis sucks. The only viable contender for POTUS who has the balls and the brains to oppose the US/EU/NATO global war agenda is none other than President Trump.

Russia is coordinating with Syria, Iran and Turkey on a schedule for a meeting of their deputy foreign ministers, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov told the state RIA news agency on Tuesday.
The unprovoked war of regime change that we started in Syria, and our ongoing military presence there, may be coming to an end soon. Our war in Yemen is in jeopardy, too. This is all good news, because the US government has not achieved anything in either country that is in the interest of any American.
The court ruled that a woman has the right under the state Constitution to receive an abortion to preserve her life if her doctor determines that continuing the pregnancy would endanger it due to a condition she has or is likely to develop during the pregnancy. Previously, the right to an abortion could only take place in the case of medical emergency.
“Requiring one to wait until there is a medical emergency would further endanger the life of the pregnant woman and does not serve a compelling state interest,” the ruling states.

Vice President Kamala Harris joined lawmakers from both parties in criticizing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ comments earlier this week that supporting Ukraine in its war against Russia is not a vital national security interest.
“If you really understand the issues, you probably would not make statements like that,” Harris said Wednesday night on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”
Responding to a questionnaire from Fox News’ Tucker Carlson in an interview on Monday night, DeSantis downplayed the importance of continuing aid to Ukraine, characterizing Russia’s invasion as a “territorial dispute” and arguing that it’s not among “vital national interests” for the United States. While the cost of ongoing aid has been a point of contention in the Republican Party, most in the GOP have expressed support for the Ukrainian cause.
Governor DeSantis is precisely correct when he says that the War in Ukraine is a territorial dispute, and not in our vital national interest.
When my colonial ancestors invented the United States a few hundred years ago, Moscow ruled Kiev. It would not bother me at all, as an American, if Moscow ruled Kiev now. But Moscow does not even want to rule Kiev now; all the Russians want is for US/EU/NATO to stop trying to rule the world. There is nothing American about empire, or about brutally enforcing a flimsy uni-polar world order on a world that neither wants nor needs US/EU/NATO in control.
Kamala Harris slept her way into politics as the mistress of Willie Brown, and currently serves as vice president because she is a woman and her father is part Jamaican. She claims that she has the experience required to “understand the need to stand ‘firm and clear about the significance of sovereignty and territorial integrity.'” Yet if the Obama-Biden Administration had respected the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine instead of sponsoring a coup to topple Ukraine’s constitutional and democratically-elected government so that we could pack the Ukrainians into NATO and load them up with offensive weapons with which to menace the Russians, then none of this would be happening.
I am not sure how much DeSantis can be trusted, as he was educated at Harvard and Yale, and those people usually have really bad ideas. But it is good to see a politician questioning and criticizing our unnecessary war of NATO expansionism in Ukraine.

Iran and Saudi Arabia agreed Friday to reestablish diplomatic relations and reopen embassies after seven years of tensions between the Mideast rivals. The major diplomatic breakthrough negotiated with China lowers the chance of armed conflict between the nations — both directly and in proxy conflicts around the region.
This represents a major defeat for the US political, military, diplomatic, and intelligence Establishment. This jeopardizes our ability to start and prolong wars all over the Middle East. Our idiotic war in Yemen may end as a result of this, and this may finally end our completely idiotic garrisoning of troops in Syria. Weapons sales are going to take a hit. But most of all, this is going to hurt the chief beneficiary of all our Middle East shenanigans: the State of Israel.

Chinese leader Xi Jinping secured an unprecedented third term as his country’s head of state, completing a transition into the second decade of his rule as he seeks to reassert himself as a global statesman and navigate an increasingly fractious rivalry with the U.S.
Mr. Xi is set to become China’s longest serving head of state since the Communist victory in 1949 after the country’s rubber-stamp legislature formally vested him with another five years as president on Friday. His reappointment, approved unanimously by more than 2,900 lawmakers assembled in Beijing, had been considered a formality after the 69-year-old took a norm-breaking third term as Communist Party chief last fall.

In his vision, the solution to the crisis is to let Russia “take over” parts of Ukraine. The Republican apparently sees such an approach as credible, because there are “Russian-speaking areas” in Ukraine.
According to MSNBC, President Trump’s plan is bad/wrong because he wanted to achieve the exact same results that Joe Biden is achieving — minus the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, the displacement of tens of millions, the onset of global energy and food crises, he draining of Western arsenals, the weakening of EU and NATO, the emboldening of Russia, the destruction of Ukraine, etc, etc, etc.
The Obama-Biden Administration sponsored a coup to overthrow the constitutional, democratically-elected government of Ukraine in 2014. The is when, and why, the war in Ukraine began. The inauguration of President Trump occurred nearly three years later. Once Obama and Biden transformed Ukraine into a dumpster fire, there was no going back. President Trump could only play with the hand he was dealt. No matter who is POTUS, the war in Ukraine will end with Russia in possession of the Russian-speaking areas.
