Turkiye, Pakistan Agree Saudi Arabia Military Deployment Under Mecca Pact

Al Jazeera:

The announcements came hours after forces aligned with Yemen’s internationally recognised government launched a counteroffensive to retake territory the Iran-aligned Houthis captured last month. The Yemeni forces, who are backed by Saudi Arabia, said they have retaken the port city of Mocha on the Red Sea and are now in control of the strategic Bab al-Mandeb strait.

The Saudi-led coalition has confirmed its participation in the Yemeni government offensive, saying 100 of its fighter jets are providing air support.

As of now, the Mecca Pact will only deploy to Saudi Arabia, to defend against inbound Houthi attacks. They have not been ordered to deploy directly into Yemen, although I suspect that will happen eventually. The Mecca Pact is still separate from the so-called “Saudi-led coalition” which is already operating in Yemen.

Saudi Arabia, Turkey And Pakistan Have Signed A Key Defense Agreement

The Washington Post:

Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan signed a defense agreement on Friday that would treat an attack on one as an attack on all three, officials said, solidifying cooperation between the three regional powers at a time of growing security concerns.

The agreement was signed in the Saudi holy city of Mecca by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif , according to statements from all three countries.

There has been some speculation that this new Sunni “defense” coalition will be used to directly confront Iran, or to directly confront the Zionist colony in Palestine when the Zionists begin attacking their Sunni neighbors following the predicted collapse of Iran. However, the Mecca Pact will most likely be used as a replacement for the so-called “Saudi-led coalition” in Yemen.
