A state representative has filed legislation that would require medical institutions to allow visitation to COVID patients.
According to Rep. Cynthia Roe’s legislation, visitors would be allowed to see COVID patients, even when the patient is in isolation from the public and other patients.
Roe, who was a registered nurse for 39 years, a nurse practitioner for 22 years, and now chairs the House Public Health Committee, filed House Bill 3313, which would allow a COVID patient to designate an individual who would have full visitation rights. The designated person may be required by hospitals to comply with certain requirements, which could include signing an acknowledgement-of-risks document, receiving health screening from staff or wearing protective equipment.
