While the temps in the region are going to drop significantly on New Year’s Day, Fort Smith’s chances of seeing its first wintery mix of the season are low.
“As far as any wintery precipitation, right now there’s a very slim chance of anything likely happening in the area,” said Chuck Hodges, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service out of Tulsa.
The unusually warm weather Arkansans have enjoyed this holiday week is headed out the door late Friday and early Saturday. A strong cold front will sweep into the area late Friday night and into the weekend.
