Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley said he believed it was “likely” that conditions for a future civil war could develop in Afghanistan following the U.S. troop withdrawal.
Considering the fact that Afghanistan has been in a constant state of civil war since the 1970’s, General Milley’s observation would seem refreshingly astute. However, the last vestiges of the Afghan republic are falling in Panjshir. The Taliban is now poised to conquer all of Afghanistan, thus concluding the Afghan civil war.
