Marine Corps Brigadier General Farrell J. Sullivan, who was “one of the two American generals in charge of the operation to evacuate American citizens and Afghans,” reportedly cancelled a flight out of Afghanistan for members of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit. The Marines eventually departed, of course, but not until after they “had to clean the base for the Taliban.”
