Braum’s An Affair Of The Heart Show To Open Friday

KJRH:

The Braum’s an Affair of the Heart event is back this weekend.

Vendors spent the day setting up at the Tulsa County Fairgrounds. This show is celebrating 26 years but it won’t be as large as it normally is.

An Affair of the Heart is a show full of artists, craftsmen, boutiques, and other small businesses.

“It’s not your grandmother’s craft show. It is a shopping marketplace offering all various categories of an item,” Kristin Ware, Braum’s an Affair of the Heart show promoter said.

Due to pandemic hardships, event organizers say it will be smaller, but the 520 vendors won’t be as limited by COVID protocols.

“The 2020 shows were much smaller and much harder,” said Ware. “We were lucky that we still got to have those with a lot of contingencies: spacing, masking, that type of thing. We were really able to get away from that this year.”

Route 66 Marathon Expected To Bring Millions In Revenue To Tulsa Area Businesses

KTUL:

“It’s a huge impact on the city,” said Race Executive Director Destiny Green. “We have more than an $8 and a half million impact and it’s great for the community and the health and fitness of Tulsans.”

Green says last year’s virtual version of the race wasn’t quite the same, so people are ready to race again as a group.

“Running is such a social sport, so doing the virtual race, it lacked a little bit in that sense, but we made the most of it and we all ran together virtually,” she said. “It’s so good to have a homecoming and run on the streets together.”

The marathon is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon, but Green says it’s beloved nationwide as a course.

Arkansas Attorney General Files Lawsuit Against Biden’s Business Vaccine Mandate

KATV:

The lawsuit argues that the authority to compel vaccinations rests with the states, not the federal government.

In a statement made on Twitter, Rutledge said the mandate was “arbitrary, capricious, and a violation of the rule of law.” She went on to say that Arkansans should not have to decide whether to get the shot or lose a job.

New regulations by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration mandate that companies with more than 100 employees require their workers to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or be tested for the virus weekly and wear masks on the job. The requirement is to kick in Jan. 4. Failure to comply could result in penalties of nearly $14,000 per violation.

Oklahoma AG Sues Biden Administration Over COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement For Federal Contractors

KOCO:

Oklahoma Attorney General John O’Connor filed a lawsuit Thursday against the Biden administration to stop its mandatory COVID-19 vaccination requirement for federal contractors.

“(President Joe) Biden’s vaccine mandates are a clear abuse of power. He does not have the authority to make healthcare decisions for Oklahomans,” O’Connor said in a news release. “It is sinister that Biden is threatening Oklahomans with the loss of their jobs if they do not surrender their personal rights and freedoms to the federal government. The president is using private employers to do his dirty work.”

The Biden administration announced Thursday that its vaccine rules applying to private businesses with 100 or more employees, certain health care workers and federal contractors will take effect Jan. 4.

Oklahoma Ranks No. 7 In Lowest Unemployment Rate

The Oklahoma 100:

The U.S. Department of Labor showed Oklahoma’s unemployment rate declined to 3.0% in September, ranking No. 7 lowest in the country.

“The decisions we made over the past 19 months, including being one of the first states to fully reopen last June, have created jobs and helped get Oklahomans back to work,” Governor Kevin Stitt said.

Oklahoma’s growing industries such as aerospace, cybersecurity, renewable energy, transportation, hospitality and entertainment also significantly impacted the state’s low unemployment rates.

For example, employers around Oklahoma added 13,400 jobs in September, more than double the jobs created (6,400) in August.

GOP States Revolt Against Biden’s Bank Snooping Plans

Daily Mail:

West Virginia state treasurer Riley Moore said that no state should comply with the IRS plan, tucked into the $3.5 trillion budget reconciliation bill, which he describes as an ‘unconstitutional invasion.’

‘The impact this is going to have on community banks, this is like Dodd Frank on steroids,’ Moore told DailyMail.com.

Moore said big banks who supported Biden would be the beneficiaries of the proposal.

‘In terms of compliance, a community bank, to be able to be in compliance, to set that type of regime up is just going to put them out of business,’ he said. ‘So who wins? The big banks win. The same banks that were bankrolling Biden’s campaign in 2020.’

And so he did.

Phil White, the former owner of the park, said it sold for “about 25 cents on the dollar.” No predictions were made on a sale price for the park prior to the auction, but more than $1 million has been invested in the property since it opened, Looper Auction and Realty said prior to the auction.

Dog Park To Be Lost With Fort Smith Regional Airport Runway Extension

Talk Business & Politics:

City Administrator Carl Geffken said Tuesday that the dog park would need to close in order for that project to be completed. He said the city is working on a plan to replace the dog park at the airport. The dog park is located at the Corner of Massard Road and Louisville Street on the east side of Fort Smith.

That is an absolute shame. Hopefully the plan to replace the dog park will go more smoothly than the plan to restore the flags at the Riverfront Park.
